Wide-Field Magnetic Imaging

Wide-field NV imaging uses an ensemble of NV centers distributed across the sensing area. Under optical excitation, the spatially varying spin response is read out in parallel and converted into a two-dimensional magnetic-field map.

Wide-field imaging is fundamentally different from single-NV point sensing: many NV centers contribute simultaneously, so uniformity across the sensing plane and sample proximity become central material requirements.

A spatially consistent NV population helps maintain comparable fluorescence and magnetic response across the image area.

02 · ACTIVE LAYER

Control the sensing volume

Bulk ensemble material or an engineered NV-active layer can be selected depending on sensitivity, spatial resolution and distance to the sample.

03 · SURFACE / GEOMETRY

Keep the sample close to the NV plane

Surface quality, polishing, crystal orientation and sample geometry can be matched to the optical setup and device architecture.

Typical applications: current-density mapping, magnetic-domain and stray-field imaging, device diagnostics, magnetic materials and spatially varying micro-scale magnetic signals.
