Why NV Ensemble

More spins give more signal.
The material still has to stay controlled.

Ensemble sensing is a materials-engineering problem: NV density, nitrogen background, isotope composition, strain and surface preparation all influence the final sensor response.

Density × Coherence

Choose the NV concentration around the measurement.

Lower-density ensemble material can favor spin performance, while higher-density material increases ensemble signal. Nova can tailor the concentration to the sensing architecture rather than forcing one material grade onto every experiment.

LOWER DENSITYHIGHER DENSITY
Coherence-sensitiveLower NV density / isotope-engineered options.
Signal-sensitiveHigher NV density for stronger ensemble response.
0.3–10 ppm
Typical NV range

Standard ensemble configurations span low-density through high-signal regimes.

CUSTOM
Density engineering

Higher-density and project-specific concentrations can be discussed for device programs.

BULK / LAYER
Active-volume control

Choose a uniform bulk ensemble or an engineered active layer depending on sensing volume.

10 mm / 3 mm
Large & thick formats

Lateral dimensions up to 10 mm and thickness up to 3 mm can be provided for maser, resonator and device integration.

From Material to Sensor

Built for ensemble quantum
sensing and device development.

NV ensemble diamond is most useful when the material parameters are selected together with optical collection, microwave delivery, magnetic-field geometry and the intended sensing volume.

01 · SENSE

High-Sensitivity Magnetometry

Large numbers of NV centers provide collective optical signal for magnetic-field detection.

02 · IMAGE

Wide-Field Imaging

Uniform ensembles enable spatially resolved magnetic, thermal and stress measurements over an optical field of view.

03 · INTEGRATE

Maser & Device Integration

Large crystal size, custom thickness, side-wall angle, chamfering and polished side faces can be engineered around microwave resonators, optical paths and package geometry.

Typical Specifications

Configure the ensemble.

Standard product grades cover the most common ensemble-sensing regimes. For specialized sensors, NV concentration, isotope composition, active-layer thickness, lateral size, thickness, edge geometry and surface finish can be customized.

Geometry Engineering

Not every ensemble experiment
fits a standard plate.

For microwave masers, resonators and integrated sensing hardware, crystal geometry can matter as much as NV concentration. Nova can process the diamond around the optical, microwave and mechanical boundary conditions of the device.

Maser / Resonator Ready

Control the faces that interact with the field.

Large and thick NV ensemble crystals can be prepared with custom side-wall angles, chamfers and polished side faces to support microwave mode engineering, optical access and mechanical integration.

Thick crystalUP TO ~3 mm
Custom side geometryANGLE · CHAMFER · BEVEL
SIDE POLISH
Optical-quality side faces

Useful where pump, fluorescence collection or cavity coupling uses a side surface rather than the top face.

ANGLE
Custom side-wall angle

Side-face angle can be processed around resonator geometry, optical path or mechanical mounting requirements.

CHAMFER
Edge control

Chamfers and bevels can reduce edge fragility and adapt the crystal to fixtures, cavities and holders.

MASER
Microwave maser platforms

High-density NV material can be combined with larger custom geometry for microwave cavity and spin-ensemble experiments.
